A Flight, A Drive, A Nap
We landed at Keflavik on a very windy morning, deprived of sleep and our luggage, but still very excited to be in Iceland. We headed to Reykjavik through rain, wind, sun, sideways rain, more sun, snow flurries, and numerous roundabouts – thus the title of this blog.
We found our way to our hotel near the University, where the room was all golden light, warmth, and down coverlets. We were so happy to have arrived, and so very tired . . . z z z.
Exploring Reykjavik
Later that afternoon, we set out to explore the city. Downtown Reykjavik is charming and quirky, with a welcoming, we-don’t-take-ourselves-too-seriously vibe. We wandered Bankastræti and Laugavegur into the evening and finally settled into Primo Bistro for a lovely dinner of Icelandic fare with an Italian accent.
Allt þetta fina (life is good)
We might need to make a trip to the local thrift store if our luggage doesn’t arrive – though I’m surprised to find myself OK with not having our bags. I have my toothbrush and my warm, wool base layers, and my best friend. Allt þetta fina.
